Entering the wine business fifteen years ago with beer in my blood, I maintained that America will become acculturated to wine when we finally treat it like beer. Someday we’ll serve it in six packs with pop tops. Well, screw caps, 4-packs and boxed wines slowly arrived. Now, Americans can get what they’ve truly been waiting for -- wines that are all about them. MODERN HOUSE WINES tell the consumer’s story, not the winemaker’s. These wines, quite literally, make a statement.
The idea was launched by Alexis Swanson Traina of Napa Valley’s Swanson Vineyards. Having worked together five years previously, Alexis and I always knew our paths would cross again. When it came time to take her successful incubator project to the public, she called. We’ve been having a blast ever since. Target launches the brand nationally in October, 2013, with three labels: HERE’S TO YOU, WITH LOVE, and EXPENSIVE. Choose one and spread the word!
